Sr. Lucy Copeck

SISTER LUCY COPECK

Sister Lucy Copeck entered the Convent in 1959.   She is a graduate of St. John's College in Cleveland where she majored in Education.  She has also taken classes from Edinboro College towards her master's degree.  Sr. Lucy maintains the school library and plans the school's liturgy.

She taught first and second grade at St. Patrick School from 1985 - 1990.  Her previous teaching experience includes St. Stephen School in Niles, St. Paul School in Salem, St. Sebastian in Akron and St. Pius X.  At St. Martha School in Akron, she taught Religion and Reading and at St. Joseph, she instructed in Reading.  Sister also worked at an elderly day care center in Hartford, Connecticut and in a preschool/kindergarten in Port Reading, New Jersey.

Sr. Lucy finds it very rewarding when young students begin to read.  She, herself, entered the first grade not having a firm grasp with the English language because her family spoke Polish at home.  Children attending the library will always find a warm, home-like atmosphere and during Catholic Schools' Week, they might even get a visit from one of Sister Lucy's three cats!
